Greetings,

I am a long time quilter and mark maker with threads.

The 100 days project gave me a daily discipline and added order to an uncertain time.


A current interest in textile books decided me to construct a journal of design ideas for future use.


I used some of Robyn Gordon’s excellent collages as a starting point, reducing one aspect of them to pure design (proportion and direction). Some I sketched in ink pen and some I stitched in thread.


What did I learn:-   
Confirmation of where I am currently; strong, simple images with meaning…….and yes, I would do it again, perhaps in a still smaller format, stitching on paper.

Camilla Watson Wellington, NZ Project My Town - A playmat for the grandchildren, 100cm x 100cm Background I was a reluctant artist; I stopped drawing at around 14 years old when I decided I ‘wasn’t good  enough’. My mother and family were exhibited artists so there was a bit of a standard to be fulfilled,  which my 14-year-old mind couldn’t deal with! My working life took me on a journey as a Business  Analyst in the finance industry through a couple of twists and turns, to eventually retraining as a Life  Coach and counsellor in my forties. While I had always been busy with craft and textiles (sewing,  macrame, woodwork etc), part of this journey included self-development and an exploration into my  artistic side. Marion Hamilton Manawatu My 100 Day project was Doodling I am a quilter but also like to try other creative arts and crafts When I heard that  Aotearoa Quilters was having a 100 day challenge, I was immediately drawn to the idea especially as it didn’t need to be a quilting project. I knew that I was going to be in Gisborne when the challenge started and away from my sewing room and stash, so a sewing project was not going to be practical. As it happened I was away for longer than expected due to Covid-19  and I also returned to Gisborne several times during the year to help my daughter with her new baby. Because I’d been to a couple of doodling classes, I decided that making a doodle art image on a small card each day would be manageable.
